Moppy is a game project helmed by Wendy Morison. She brought me on as an additional artist to make 3D assets and an intro cinematic for the game.
This was a mainly a direct adaptation, as she had previously designed a flat version of the logo, but as the game was going to have a mixed media aesthetic, a different medium was considered for the logo and opening animation.
The series is named after it's protagonist, Moppy, a short, green mascot-esc character with a big flower on the top of his block head who spends his time helping out around his city. Since the original logo already communicated the feel of the series so well, I didn't want to deviate from it at all, and it was instead a question of how to add texture and slight movement to something without making it look muddy and unappealing. I landed on a simple loop where the text moves slightly, and highly saturated the image, which helped keep the text feel vibrant and alive.
A model of Moppy I made for an earlier 3D iteration of the game.
An early trailer made by Wendy Morrison for the game. Outside of small map design and character concepts, my work hadn't yet been implemented in this build.
